Path of Exile Item Upgrading

In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the most effective ways to upgrade your equipment without relying on massive drops or trade. This article will teach you how to upgrade your items effectively.

Upgrades to equipment grant an additional bonus to the item's stats. The bonus increases with upgrade component level and rarity.

Components

Upgrade components make your armour and weapons better. They can be found through destroying enemies, buying them from karma vendors or finding them in the form of item-spheres. They can also be salvaged from equipment that has them or by using the highest-quality salvage kits such as the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. Unlike most other items, upgrade components are not destroyed when removed from an item.
