How to Replace an audi key copy G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated near the transmission's edge just above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

The grey wire is situated on the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate with the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also the location of the camshaft to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails to function, audi car Key cover the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of the possibility of a chain stretch or jumpy chain link in the upper chain. However, the code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit tricky as there are two different connector pins, and they perform different functions but the most effective method of testing it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. It should read around 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. Check for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll, i experienced a big cut in power like the engine is out of gas or the injectors aren't firing at all. This morning i pull out the spark plugs. Three were soaked with gazoline and the fourth one was dry. When I start the engine with no sparks, i place a tissue on the top of each hole in the injector, the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. I get zero Ohm. I'm assuming the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car key replacement audi will start when the G28 is unplugged and is running fine when it is connected, Audi new Key but still is experiencing intermittent misfires at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars but the actual pressure is 0.

I don't know what to do. I think I've eliminated everything else. I'm worried that i might have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 is activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender, and both operate on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily find an extra in a wrecking shop or a parts store. It is simple to test them: simply put your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing upwards). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines have an ECU that needs to be aware of the speed and position of the crankshaft to make a decision about fuel injector timing etc. To do this, it makes use of a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these go wrong, you will receive codes on the diagnostic scanner that could cause engine shut down.

Some of the signs of a malfunctioning G28 sensor include an inaccurate gearbox rev counter and gears that shift faster than normal, and/or a misfire when you're in gear. It is possible that the sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you experience any of these signs. The good thing is that they are very affordable and easy to find, especially in the case of the Bosch sensor, like ours. Alternately, the GM version of this component is also a great option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a myriad of issues in your car. It's a crucial component of the transmission of your audi q7 key because it relays information to the ECU on how fast or slow the engine of the car is turning. If the sensor fails, it will disrupt the performance of the transmission as well as the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear and transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 through a grey wire. The ECU uses this signal to control the flow of fuel and boost and also to timigrate. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see approximately 1000 ohms resistance between those points. This is the same across the audi Key Blade 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging beginning with the 1985 MC and up to the 1997 UrS AN and 1995 RS2 DU So, you may find them in wrecking yards.FIAT.png
