1. Engine Speed Sensor

Located on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends an electrical signal to ECU pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU then uses this information to control fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an alert to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can start spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error code. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is not in alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jumpy chain link in the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't be displayed on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at full speed, i noticed a huge drop in power. It was as if the engine had run out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. This morning i pull out the spark plugs, 3 were drenched with gazoline the fourth one was dry. When I crank the engine, there are no sparks i put tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline pop out, but the 4th stays shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 i get zero ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car is able to start if the G28 is not plugged in and it runs perfectly when it is connected but it still has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for the coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of -49c even when i unplug it. Also, i noticed that the oil pressure gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 when i rev the engine.

I'm not certain what to do, as i think i've pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please let me know! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal by the RPM sensor.
