Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon Brothers

Zeus is a god of paternity and grace with an inflated self-esteem. He is clever and dazzling with great leadership power.

He also wears a helmet, called the Helm of Darkness, and his weapon is the bident that resembles the trident of Poseidon.

Ancient Greeks believed that the underworld was more of a spiritual realm rather than an actual hell. Hades was responsible for watching over the souls and lives of mortal men, women and children who passed away. It also triggered the growing seasons.

During her time with Demeter she began to neglect her duties as goddess of fertility. Hades was angry. He decided to bring her back. He manipulated her by changing himself into a disheveled cuckoo. Because of her love for animals he held the bird to her breast, and she fell in love. He then returned to the original form and mated her.

After the marriage, Hades was a loving husband and father to their three children. He was anxious about his place on Mount Olympus. He wanted to be the center for an alteration. He suggested to the gods of the other gods that he bring hell up to earth. After a long discussion the gods finally agreed.

Hestia the goddess of peace, is also responsible for keeping the other Olympians under control. She is also the patron goddess of marriage and takes special care of married women. She was a very religious woman, but she also had several affairs with her brother's husband Zeus. She had children with mortals and nymphs, including Triton and Theseus.
