Safety

The purchase of used baby equipment can be risky, even if it's only been used for a short period of time. Secondhand items are not required to be registered with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, unlike new products. Therefore, there's no way to know whether a product has been subject to recalls. This can happen for any reason, from design flaws to manufacturer's failure to conform to federal standards. You can sign up for a stroller and pushchair and receive notifications of recalls.

This rule implements a mandatory standard for strollers and Pushchairs From Birth carriages pursuant to section 104 of the Danny Keysar Child Product Safety Notification Act as amended by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA). The rule incorporates the most recent voluntary standard, ASTM F833-13b developed by the American Society for Fold Up Pushchair Testing and stroller and pushchair Materials. It also defines requirements and testing procedures to minimize the risk caused by these products. CPSC staff worked closely with ASTM stakeholders to create this standard.
